Biography
A child of the Prairies before moving to Vancouver, Mona Forster has been making art in some form since her earliest memories. She was introduced to pen & ink during college and that informed her art practice for several years. The desire to incorporate colour into her work led her to explore watercolours, while working on a rotation at a mine-site in the NWT. This exploration grew into a love for watercolours which continues to this day. Painting provided her solace while transitioning to a life in Vancouver. After several commissions and a few shows at local businesses, life took a turn and she was unable to paint for several years. As time passed, she advanced her career in the natural resource sector, and a busy job involving considerable travel subsumed her art making.
Recently, life again took a turn and the universe opened a path to making art once again. Mona is now working in oils and acrylics as well as watercolour, out of a beautiful studio in Parker Street Studios. These new mediums have pushed her to evolve her craft and she is challenging herself to work on a larger scale.
